Sustainability Initiatives of the Cosmo Energy Group
In order to realize sustainable growth as declared in the Management Vision of the Cosmo Energy Group, and based on the Cosmo Energy Group Code of Conduct, a new consolidated medium-term Sustainability management plan (FY2018 to FY2022) has been drafted in line with the new consolidated medium-term management plan. To strengthen the basis for group management, which is one of the four basic policies of the plan, our entire group will implement Sustainability management and contribute to realizing Social Development Goals (SDGs) from the perspective of ESG (environmental measures; human rights and social contribution measures; safety and governance).
Internal Control System
The Cosmo Energy Group is committed to implementing its Management Vision and Code of Conduct while ensuring that operations are carried out in an appropriate and efficient manner. Toward these ends, the Group has established and maintains systems under which directors and employees of the Company and its Group companies carry out their duties; systems for risk management and internal auditing; and systems for audits performed by the Supervisory Committee, all of which are based on the Group’s basic policy on internal control systems. The Group also has established the Sustainability Strategy Committee, chaired by the President and Group CEO, to serve as the organization that oversees internal controls. It consists of the officers and heads of the corporate planning divisions of Cosmo Energy Holdings, as well as the presidents and heads of the planning divisions of the core operating companies, and the Supervisory Committee members. The Sustainability Strategy Committee evaluates the performance of the activities conducted according to the Consolidated Medium-Term Sustainability Plan and reports important items to the Board of Directors. As a working body of the Sustainability Strategy Committee, the Sustainability Committee, headed by the General Manager of the Sustainability Initiative Department, meets regularly four times a year, with additional meetings held as needed.
